Glaze is a digital tool that activates works of art for medical care — patients paint, not only observe. It works with a hospital’s own art collection, or with one we build together from our museum library.

HOW IMPLEMENTATION WORKS
From the first conversation to the ward
Seven stages, run together with the hospital team. Each one is set out in full in the implementation guide.

Who the program is for, how tablets reach patients, who leads it on the hospital side, and how success will be defined at 6 and 12 months.

The hospital’s own artworks, or a collection built together from our museum library — reviewed with a curator and shortlisted with the hospital team.

Security documentation, risk assessment and data compliance review (HIPAA / GDPR) with the hospital’s IT team.

The interface with the selected collection, then the educational content — sketches, tutorials, artwork descriptions — developed through review rounds with the clinical and art therapy team.

Final collection, visual and content sign-off, and any measurement tools the institution wants integrated.

Deployment, staff training, and the first tablets on the ward.

Quarterly sessions with the hospital team, content updates, collection expansion, and research collaboration where applicable.
The pace is set by the hospital’s own IT, security and compliance review — that is the key variable, and it belongs to the hospital’s process, not to ours.
On our side, the build and onboarding typically take a few months of active collaboration. Glaze has already completed a full two-year security, compliance and risk review at a US academic children’s hospital.

A NOTE ON HOSPITAL ART COLLECTIONS
Many hospitals maintain art collections — acquired with the belief that cultural engagement supports patient wellbeing. Glaze gives those collections a new function: a structured creative experience that patients can participate in, not only observe. For hospitals without an existing collection, we build one together from our library of museum content.
INDEPENDENT RESEARCH
The program is built to be studied — by researchers, not by us. Well of Art provides the technology and the clinical implementations; scientific evaluation is designed, conducted and published independently by Knology, a non-profit social science research organisation.

IMPLEMENTATION & CUSTOM DEVELOPMENT
Every participating institution may propose custom functionality supporting its clinical workflow, its implementation process or its research activity.
Proposals are reviewed and prioritised together with the institution. Functionality of general value is built into the platform and becomes available to every participant — which is how the program grows.
